Packaging can also be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Paper

All district councils collect paper in their household collections. Please click here for more information on what your district council collects.

Paper can also be recycled at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre or paper recycling banks.

Paint

Both water based and oil based paint can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre for reuse/resale. Please note there is a limit of 5 litres in a 12-month period on oil based paint. Proper Job in Chagford also accept paint for reuse/resale.

Pesticides

Household quantities are accepted at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre. Please make sure the material is in a secure container and clearly labelled.

Please do not pour pesticides down the drain and do not place into your ordinary household rubbish.

Plant Pots

Once rinsed, plant pots can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Some garden centres also have a return scheme.

Alternatively, try donating on free websites such as Freegle or Gumtree.

Plasterboard

Plasterboard can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre, with the exception of Totnes and Maclins Quarry. Please note, plasterboard is chargeable.

Plastic Bottles

The Refill Devon scheme allows you to fill up your reusable water bottle for free at participating establishments, reducing plastic bottle waste.

Alternatively, all types of plastic can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Plastic bags

Polystyrene

Polystyrene can not be recycled. Please break up and dispose of in your black residual waste bin.

If the polystyrene is part of the packaging of electrical appliances, you can ask at the time the appliance is delivered if the company can take back the packaging.

If you have a lot of it, please spread out over multiple collections or take to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
