Mattresses

Some furniture reuse groups accept clean/good condition mattresses.

Mattresses can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre. Unfortunately due to the mix of materials within a mattress they cannot be recycled but may be suitable for reuse and resale in the shop if they are clean and in good condition. Please check with a member of staff on site.

Duvet covers, pillow cases, sheets and blankets can be put in the textiles container to be recycled.

Metals

Some district councils can collect some metals including; tins and cans, aerosols, and foil in their kerbside collection.  Please click here for more information on what your district council collects.

Alternatively they will be accepted at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

All other types of metal will be accepted at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Medicines

Surplus medicines should be returned to your pharmacy.

Mobile Phones

There are many charitable organisations who accept mobile phones for reuse or recycling, you can find out more by searching online.

Some companies will exchange your old mobile phone for cash, you can find out more by searching online.

If you have purchased a new mobile phone from a shop please ask about the disposal of your old one as retailers are required to offer this service.

Alternatively, mobile phones can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre and will go into the electrical container.

Mobility Equipment

Mobility equipment such as walking aids, crutches or Zimmer frames can be returned to the Daily Independent Living Integrated Service.

Mobility Scooters

Mobility scooters that are working can be advertised on sites such as Gumtree, Preloved, Freegle or Freecycle. They can also be donated to a organisation such as stairlift recycling, who will refurbish unwanted mobility scooters.
