Garden Furniture
Consider advertising unwanted garden furniture on a site such as Gumtree, Preloved, Freegle or Freecycle or taking it to your local charity shop.
Alternatively, it is accepted at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Garden Tools
Unwanted garden tools that are in good working order can be advertised on sites such as Gumtree, Preloved, Freegle or Freecycle.
They are also accepted at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre. Depending on whether they are electric or not will depend on whether they go in the metal or WEEE skip.
Garden waste
Some local councils will collect garden waste as part of their household collection. Please click here for more information on what your district council collects.
Alternatively, garden waste is accepted at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Gas bottles
Domestic gas bottles, as follows, are accepted at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre:
- Standard low-pressure gas cylinders, for example, gas heaters cylinders
- Small canisters (camping gas, soda stream or equivalent)
- Fire extinguishers
- Helium (party balloon type)
Many gas centres also except returns of empty cylinders, please check with the retailer.
Gas Heaters
Are accepted free of charge at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre. They will be recycled in the scrap metal skip.
Glass (Bottles and Jars)
Some local councils will collect glass bottles and jars as part of the household collection service. Please click here for more information on what your district council collects.
Alternatively there are glass banks located across the county or they are acceptable at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Glass (Flat)
Flat glass is accepted at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (excluding Deep Moor and Maclins Quarry). Please note that if the flat glass has a UPVC frame then it will be chargeable.
Glasses (Spectacles)
You can donate your old glasses to a charity shop or to a charity such as Vision Aid Overseas.
Many opticians will also collect your old glasses.
Greetings Cards
Greetings cards can be reused in many ways, including making fridge magnets, as gift tags or gift boxes. Check out WikiHow for some ideas here.

Guttering (Drain Pipes)
Guttering can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre providing any renovations have been done yourself. Please note, guttering/drainpipes are chargeable.
Gypsum waste (plasterboard)
Plasterboard can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (excluding, Totnes and Maclins Quarry) providing any renovations have been done yourself. Please note, gypsum waste/plasterboard are chargeable.
