| Partnership Background |
Devon Authorities Recycling Partnership is the public name for the Devon Authorities Waste Reduction and Recycling Committee, which has a long history of successful partnership, working within the county. The committee has a membership of 11 authorities across Devon including Devon County Council, eight District Authorities and two Unitary Authorities. The committee funds and supports county-wide initiatives which aim to reduce, reuse, recycle and compost waste in Devon. They include: Devon Community Recycling Network, Devon Community Composting Network, Real Nappy Campaign, Furniture Reuse payments, Devon Authorities Web Site, exhibitions at the Devon County Show, Waste Education and the 'Don't let Devon go to waste' campaign. Don’t let Devon go to waste' is a county-wide, multi-faceted marketing campaign which represents the partnership. The campaign commenced in October 2002 when an all-embracing study of waste arising and public attitudes in conjunction with an advertising and public relations campaign resulted in a step change in attitudes to waste and levels of recycling in Devon. Since that time the campaign has gone from strength to strength and has contributed to Devon achieving a 52% recycling rate and significant reductions in the amount of waste sent to landfill.Click here to download a PDF copy of the Don't let Devon go to waste campaign results and evaluation report |
