What to recycle in Torbay

The following materials are collected from residents on the twin bin system, in the Torbay Council area.

Plastics

  • Milk containers
  • Lemonade/fizzy drink bottles
  • Cordial/squash bottles
  • Washing up liquid bottles
  • Detergent bottles
  • Fabric conditioner bottles
  • Washing up liquid bottles

Cardboard

  • Cereal boxes
  • Tea bag boxes
  • Toilet roll tubes
  • Cardboard egg boxes
  • Corrugated cardboard

Paper

  • Newspapers
  • Magazines
  • Catalogues
  • Junk Mail
  • White Computer Paper
  • Other office paper
  • Telephone directories
  • Yellow Pages - only during September and October. We have made special arrangements to recycle these, but during these months only.

Aluminium & Steel

  • Food tins (soup, baked beans, etc.)
  • Drink cans (with widgets are fine)
  • Foil dishes

Textiles

Textiles and clothing must be placed in a bag marked 'Textiles'.

Anything that is not suitable to be placed in your green bin should be placed in your grey bin.  This includes the following:

Plastics

  • Carrier bags
  • Yoghurt pots
  • Margarine tubs
  • Polystyrene
  • Plastic food trays
  • Crisp packets
  • Cling film

Cardboard

  • Greetings cards
  • Waxed cartons (orange juice, etc.)
  • Polystyrene egg boxes

Paper

  • Yellow pages - only during November and August as they can be recycled during September and October
  • Wallpaper
  • Envelopes
  • Shredded paper

Items that are NOT collected and should NOT be placed in either bin are:

  • Rubble
  • Hazardous Waste
