What to recycle in East Devon

All households are covered by the East Devon green box collection scheme.  If you do not have a box yet, please call the East Devon Customer Services Centre on 01395 517528 to request one.

Collections are fortnightly and are for the following materials:

  • Newspapers
  • Magazines
  • Yellow pages
  • Catalogues
  • Telephone directories
  • Shredded paper - 1 carrier bag per collection
  • Glass bottles and jars (no lids, or other types of glass)
  • Cans (rinsed and free of food, and please ensure there are no protruding sharp edges)
  • Textiles (clean and dry)
  • Aluminium foil (clean and dry)
  • Junk mail and envelopes
  • Paper
  • Aerosol cans
  • Household batteries

Please remember - No Card or Plastic.

Boxes are collected from the edge of your property.  They should be left in a position adjacent to the footway/highway.  Please ensure that the box is easily visible to collectors as they drive by. Collections start at 7:30am.

Missed collection?

If for any reason your box is not emptied on the expected day, please contact East Devon customer services using the details at the top of this page. The contractor may be able to arrange to return and make the collection, if still operating close to your area. If not, a firm commitment will be made to call at your property on the next scheduled collection day.
